SLN Semester Recap

What an incredible semester! We kicked off the year in September with A Lawyer Life: The Truth Behind the Title, where students connected with lawyers from all corners of the profession in a fast-paced, inspiring speed-networking event.

October brought the excitement of Case-Solving Night, a Halloween-themed mystery challenge that had teams piecing together clues, testing their logic, and racing to crack the case.

But our biggest highlight of the semester was November’s SLN Case Competition - an unforgettable showcase of talent, teamwork, and sharp legal thinking. Competitors stepped into the spotlight, tackled complex legal issues, and impressed our distinguished panel of judges with their creativity and critical analysis. It was an empowering, high-energy finale that truly celebrated the best of our community.

Here’s to an amazing semester - and even more to come!

Final Exam Study Tips

With exam season on the horizon, it’s time to shift into study mode - without losing the holiday spirit! Here are a few tips to help you find the perfect balance:

1. Be The Explainer

Explaining something to someone else is one of the best ways to determine what you have down cold, what you need to take a second look at.

2. Have a study buddy? Don't split the work.

Have a friend make a study sheet for the final exam separately, then get together after you both are done and review the topics together. That way you are less likely to miss something.

3. Turn the TV off and the music on.

Music can help you focus IF you pick the right songs. Forget brand new albums or your favourite songs that might break your concentration when you need to study. Instead, listen to music you already know all the words to, but don't feel compelled to sing along.

4. Can't stop singing? Put everything to music!

See if you can make up new lyrics to your favourite songs that incorporate the formulas or historical dates you have to memorize. Things are a lot easier to remember with a good beat.

5. Read it. Write it. Say it.

Go through your notes and pull out the key points by reading them, re-writing them, then saying them out loud. This method really helps some students commit facts to memory.
